New England Aikikai, with the assistance of Yoshimitsu Yamada Shihan, is pleased to announce 2007 Aikido Summer Camp to be held at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, from Saturday, July 28 to Saturday, August 4.

Please join us in welcoming special guest instructor Yukimitsu Kobayashi Shihan, 6th Dan, from Aikikai Hombu Dojo, Tokyo, Japan, who will join USAF Chairman Yoshimitsu Yamada Shihan, 8th Dan, and other USAF Shihan and Shidoin in instructing this camp.

The Colgate University’s beautiful rural campus is in the village of Hamilton, which is about 10 miles from the geographic center of New York State. The area is ideal for biking and running in the rolling hills of the Chenango Valley and hiking and skiing in the nearby Adirondack Mountains.

Colgate University has been the site of several memorable Aikido summer camps in recent years of which many of us have fond memories.

Information about Colgate University may be found at http://www.colgate.edu. Detailed directions and travel information is at http://www.colgate.edu/DesktopDefault1.aspx?tabid=524. The Summer Camp pre-registration form, rates, and general information are enclosed and are also available on our website at http://www.neaikikai.com. The class schedule will also be up on the New England Aikikai website soon.

If possible, we would encourage you to please pre-register by June 30th. Pre-registration qualifies you for a lower rate for camp. In addition, pre-registration helps us with planning for accommodations and meals at Colgate University and prevents long lines and waiting at check-in. We also must submit as accurate an estimate as we can of attendees to the university 14 days before the beginning of camp. Of course, on-site registration will be available for those who cannot pre-register but we would greatly appreciate your help in maximizing the number of pre-registrations. Thanks!

If you are testing at camp this year your instructor must either be present during your test, or must have given you a letter of written permission to test with the reason instructor cannot be present. This letter must include a detailed profile of the student, including present rank, number of hours since last test, and the rank for which the student is testing. If you are testing at camp you must also participate in at least half the week of camp. If you have questions regarding testing you may contact Susan Wolk, Secretary of USAF; susanmwolk@comcast.net.

If you have questions, a problem, would like to have your email address added to our mailing list, or if you would like to update your existing e-mail address, feel free to call the dojo at 617-661-1959, leave a voice mail at 781-799-5983, or send an email through our website.

Please join us in welcoming our very special guest instructor Yukimitsu Kobayashi Shihan and continuing our long tradition of great summer camp training and festivities. We are looking forward to seeing you all there.
